Engineering Ability: We model our products and projects in “Solid Works”. This is a very powerful computer-aided engineering (CAE) program that runs on Microsoft Windows. Solid Works is published by Dassault Systems and allows us to create and build our products and projects in “model space” before we physically build.
Shop Capabilities: Our shop is fully equipped with press breaks and shears. We also have a CNC plasma table and a Water Jet table, which allows us to cut any plate or sheet we need.
Logic: We write all our logic control and can customize any program as needed. This includes custom programs for target retrievers, range controls and even for ventilation.
Ventilation and Acoustics. These I believe are the two most important elements of a range. Without these two items in place, you cannot have a successful range. Most people focus on ballistics first, leaving few resources for ventilation and acoustics.
When asked, “How do you expect to change the industry?” I replied:
“One Range at a time”
Two become 10 and 10 become 100 and 100 become thousands and somewhere in that process we will have been heard and change will have happened. We will wait.
Who is Our Best Customer?
Our best customers are the “ranges in need.” The Ranges needing to be quieter, ones having issues with encroaching neighbors, and ones that have been let down by the major manufacturers. Ranges that had ballistics escape their range and land in a person’s yard. Ranges that are needing to do all they can to keep bullets from leaving their range. Ranges that have followed the status quo for years and have awoken, looking for innovation and solutions to their problems. Ranges that do not understand why the smoke from firing guns never leave the firing line or why it is louder in the adjoining shooting lanes than their own. Ranges that want to know what happens to the lead dust that falls from the rifling bullet? Is it gone, or did it attach itself to the bottom of the shoes that walk through a range, then to their car, the carpet of a home, and resting at the foot of their children’s beds.
Our Best Customers are: “Ranges looking for answers outside the box, where I believe the solutions live.”
The Bottom Line: Our Mission
I often tell range customers that I will never try to force them to buy a product that is not beneficial and does not address the issues of their range. Product application is foremost because a range is not made of just one product but many products. I tell them, product application makes a range safer, as quiet as possible, with cleaner air to breathe, and is simple and efficient to operate. I build a shooting range the right way, not based on what I say is right but using products that have been tested and proven many times over. I always try to guide anyone to avoid problems other ranges have made, thank them for listening to me, and let them know how I can help them.
